Uzbekistan's Fight Against Child Labor Commended at ILO
Uzbekistan
The delegation of Uzbekistan, led by the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Narbaeva, took an active part in the events of the 114th session of the International Labour Conference. A key highlight of the visit was the Uzbek delegation's address at the high-level forum "Red Card Against Child Labor: From Marrakesh to Practical Action," timed to coincide with World Day Against Child Labour.
In her speech, Narbaeva emphasized that the complete eradication of child labor in the republic was achieved due to the firm political will of the country's leadership, a fundamental modernization of national legislation, and the implementation of effective targeted social protection mechanisms. This breakthrough is widely recognized as the result of long-standing close cooperation with leading international legal institutions.
On the sidelines of the conference, Tanzila Narbaeva held a bilateral meeting with the Secretary-General of the International Organisation of Employers (IOE), Roberto Suárez Santos. The head of the IOE highly commended Uzbekistan’s sustainable economic growth and its rising influence in the Central Asian region.
The talks concluded with an agreement to expand the IOE's technical assistance to Uzbekistan. International experts will help strengthen the institutional capacity of national employers' associations and align domestic labor laws with global standards, further promoting the principles of decent work across all economic sectors.
