Uzbekistan's Interior Ministry and Bar Association Join Forces Against Corruption

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan and the Bar Association of Uzbekistan have signed a cooperation memorandum aimed at strengthening the rule of law, improving law enforcement practices, and developing joint mechanisms for preventing corruption. The agreement establishes a long-term framework for cooperation between a state institution and the country's independent legal community.
The signing ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Rustam Mirzaev, Chairman of the Bar Association Shukhrat Sadikov, representatives of both institutions, and members of the media.
Under the memorandum, the parties will establish a permanent platform for professional cooperation. The initiative предусматривает joint analysis of law enforcement practices, identification of systemic corruption risks, preparation of proposals to improve legislation, and the organization of seminars, scientific and practical conferences, training events, and professional exchanges.
Particular emphasis will be placed on ensuring the rule of law, protecting citizens' rights and freedoms, enhancing the legal culture of law enforcement personnel, and developing unified approaches to corruption prevention.
Participants noted that effective anti-corruption efforts require not only internal state oversight but also the active involvement of the legal profession, whose practical experience can help identify systemic issues and improve legal and organizational solutions. The memorandum is expected to increase transparency, strengthen institutional cooperation, and reinforce public confidence while fully respecting the independence and statutory powers of each party.
