President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Uzbekistan's Paralympic athletes, their parents, and coaches at the Ko‘ksaroy residence to celebrate their outstanding achievements at the Paris Paralympics. He congratulated the team for their remarkable performance on the international stage.
The Uzbek team secured a total of 26 medals, ranking 13th overall, 3rd in Asia, and 1st among Turkic and Islamic nations. These results highlight Uzbekistan's growing prowess in international sports competitions.
In his address, President Mirziyoyev described the Paralympics as a true test of willpower and courage. He commended the athletes for their dedication and perseverance, which have made the entire nation proud. He also highlighted the significant contribution of female athletes to the country’s success.
Asila Mirzayorova’s world record in long jump and Nurxon Qurbonova’s victory in javelin throwing were among the standout achievements. Additionally, 15-year-old Shahinaxon Yigitaliyeva became the youngest medalist in the history of the Paralympic Games, winning silver and etching her name in history.
