Uzbekistan's Representative Appointed as Deputy Secretary-General of the SCO

Candidate of Philosophical Sciences Botir Tursunov has been appointed as the Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
The diplomat is 50 years old. He graduated from the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies (now the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies) and the Institute of Philosophy and Law named after I. Muminov at the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan.
Since 2005, he has worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, holding various positions in the central apparatus and the Uzbek Embassy in Beijing. He also served as Director of the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President and Deputy Director of the International Institute of Central Asia.
Since 2023, he has been serving as Counselor-Envoy of Uzbekistan's Embassy in China and as the Permanent Representative to the SCO Secretariat.
A Candidate of Philosophical Sciences, he is the author of over 25 scientific works and is fluent in Russian, English, and Chinese.
