Venezuela’s acting president Delcy Rodríguez has called on Washington to pursue cooperation and dialogue, as tensions rise following Donald Trump’s warnings about possible new strikes.

Venezuela Urges the US to Choose Dialogue Over Threats
Venezuela’s acting president Delcy Rodríguez said her country remains committed to peace and invited the US government to engage in cooperation based on balanced and respectful relations under international law.

She stated that Caracas is proposing a joint development-oriented agenda and stressed that the peoples of Venezuela, the United States and the wider region deserve dialogue and peace rather than confrontation.

“Venezuela has the right to peace, development, sovereignty and a future,” Rodríguez said, addressing US President Donald Trump directly.

Her remarks came amid sharp rhetoric from Washington. Earlier, Trump warned that he could order a new strike if Venezuela fails to cooperate with the US on opening its oil sector and combating drug trafficking.

In an interview with The Atlantic, Trump also said that if Rodríguez “does not do the right thing,” she would “pay a very high price,” possibly even higher than President Nicolás Maduro.
