Uzbekistan
The eighth International NEW SILK WAY Business Forum has opened in Astana as part of Kazakhstan Transport Week. A key focus is the digital transformation of transport, including the use of artificial intelligence and the development of interoperable logistics systems.
The forum serves as an international platform for discussing transport and logistics development, strengthening cooperation and improving the efficiency of Eurasian transport corridors.
The programme featured a strategic session titled “Digital Silk Road: Artificial Intelligence and Seamless Logistics Technologies”. Participants examined opportunities to introduce modern digital solutions into the transport sector and expand its technological capabilities.
Speakers included Uzbekistan’s Minister of Transport Ilhom Makhkamov; Kazakhstan’s Vice-Minister of Transport Zhanibek Taizhanov; Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan; Türkiye’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu; Czech Transport Minister Ivan Bednárik; and Arzybek Kozhoshev, Member of the Board (Minister) for Energy and Infrastructure at the Eurasian Economic Commission.
The discussion explored how artificial intelligence and digital technologies could improve freight-flow management, optimise international transport and streamline logistics processes. Particular attention was paid to ensuring compatibility between digital systems and enabling data exchange among government agencies and participants across transport and logistics chains.
Improving the transparency of transport operations was another key topic. Digital cooperation was discussed as a means of strengthening coordination among international logistics stakeholders and increasing the efficiency of transport operations.
The NEW SILK WAY session brought together representatives from several countries and the Eurasian Economic Commission to discuss practical approaches to transport digitalisation and the development of international logistics links.
