World Economic Forum 2024 kicks off in Davos, Switzerland
More than 60 leaders of states, governments and world business are planning to arrive at the forum. Among them is the president of the European Commission, as well as leaders from Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa, Israel and Ukraine.

Leaders from the UN, WHO, IMF, NATO and about 40 non-governmental organisations are also expected to attend. Among the main topics are: "Achieving security and cooperation in a fractured world", "Creating growth and jobs for a new era", "Artificial intelligence as a driving force in economy and society" and "A long-term strategy for climate, nature and energy".

It is worth noting that the forum is taking place against the backdrop of one of the most complex geopolitical and geo-economic situations in recent decades. The high-level event has come under a barrage of criticism in recent years for becoming a club for high-profile personalities to discuss great ideas but make little progress in finding solutions to serious world problems.

Criticisms have also been made about inviting wealthy executives who arrive on corporate jets. According to representatives of environmental organisations, this runs counter to calls for climate protection, as personal jets damage the environment.
