People's Artist of Uzbekistan Yulduz Usmonova has commented on the scandal surrounding her New York performance. American politicians Michael Novakhov and Bruce Blakeman accused the singer of antisemitism following her statements on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and demanded the revocation of her visa. In response, Usmonova declared she had no intention of apologizing, labeling the protests as part of local political campaigning and a boost to her popularity.
The singer reaffirmed her views, stating that she considers the territory of Palestine to be its people's ancestral land, and warned her opponents not to act as "masters" in the US. Usmonova emphasized that all tickets for the show had been sold out; however, under the pressure of protests, the organizers eventually canceled the concert.
