Zaamin Technopark Expands with $250M High-Tech Projects
On July 22, the President of Uzbekistan reviewed a presentation of new projects planned for the second phase of the Zaamin Technopark, located in the Jizzakh region.
Covering 400 hectares, the technopark is already implementing 9 projects in its first stage. Now, 5 more promising initiatives have been launched with a total investment volume of around $250 million.
Key industries include:
Joint production of medical and security equipment with Longze Investment Group
Manufacturing of laptops, tablets, servers, and routers with Foxit
Production of leather and sports shoes, construction materials, porcelain, and chemical goods
Around 70% of output from these enterprises is expected to be exported. All products will feature high added value.
The region continues to attract foreign capital. In 2018, Jizzakh region received only $18 million in foreign investment. By last year, this figure surpassed $1 billion. Over the past eight years, a total of $3.7 billion has been invested, more than 4,000 industrial enterprises were launched, and over 260 foreign-backed companies are now active in the region.
