Zelensky: Ukraine Needs $65 Billion Annually

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said his country requires $65 billion annually to meet basic budgetary needs and strengthen its defense capabilities. According to him, $40 billion is needed to cover the budget deficit, while $25 billion is earmarked for the production of drones, missiles, and electronic warfare systems.

"This is a very difficult issue, but I’ve already begun negotiations," Zelensky stated. He mentioned that he had discussed the matter with several world leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, and U.S. officials.

Zelensky plans to appeal to European countries for financial support not only for arms purchases but also for paying salaries to Ukrainian soldiers. He emphasized that amid manpower shortages and public fatigue from the war, proper motivation of military personnel is crucial.
