Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told journalists in Kyiv that the operation by the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) in the Kursk region had achieved its objective. According to him, as a result of this offensive, the Russian army was forced to withdraw part of its forces from the Kharkiv and Pokrovsk directions. Consequently, the situation in these regions has "stabilized," and now, according to Zelensky, it will be "very difficult" for the Russian army to reoccupy Pokrovsk.

On the same day, U.S. President Donald Trump commented on the situation in the Kursk region, stating: "At this very moment, thousands of Ukrainian soldiers are completely surrounded by the Russian army and are in an extremely dire and vulnerable position." In his Truth Social post, he said that he had appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin with a "strong request to preserve their lives." "This would be a horrific massacre like nothing we have seen since World War II," Trump added.

In response, Vladimir Putin stated that Ukrainian soldiers who laid down their arms and surrendered in the Kursk region would be guaranteed their lives and treated as prisoners of war. Previously, during his visit to the region, Putin claimed that captured Ukrainian servicemen would be considered terrorists.

The UAF General Staff, however, denied reports of Ukrainian troops being surrounded in the Kursk region via its Telegram channel, describing the events as a "regrouping of units."
