12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians Opens in Samarkand

The 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians opened in Samarkand on September 4 under the theme “On the Path to Restoring Human Rights, Justice and Human Dignity in Difficult Times.” The event is organized by the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan jointly with the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
At the opening, Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, read out an address from President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the young parliamentarians.
Participants will discuss pressing global challenges, the protection of human rights and human dignity, strengthening the principles of justice, ensuring peace and stability, and the role of young people in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
The conference will also focus on expanding youth participation in decision-making, strengthening their role in parliamentary activities and developing inter-parliamentary cooperation.
The forum will also host the 3rd Global Forum on Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
Holding the conference in Samarkand reflects Uzbekistan’s efforts to develop youth diplomacy, strengthen inter-parliamentary dialogue and promote initiatives aimed at expanding young people’s participation in public and political life.
