173 People Imprisoned for Traffic Accidents in Uzbekistan

In Uzbekistan, during the first three months of 2025, 173 individuals involved in road traffic accidents (RTAs) were sentenced to imprisonment. This was officially reported by Aziz Obidov, spokesperson for the Supreme Court.
According to the statistics, in 2024, a total of 3,321 individuals were convicted under Article 266 of the Criminal Code — violation of traffic safety rules or vehicle operation regulations. Of these, 917 were sentenced to imprisonment, while 2,404 received non-custodial penalties.
In the first quarter of 2025, 891 individuals were convicted under the same article. Out of them, 173 received prison sentences, and 718 were given non-custodial punishments.
