A horrific collision between a passenger and freight train occurred in Russia

A double-decker passenger train traveling from Murmansk to St. Petersburg collided with a freight train at Knyazaya station in the Kandalaksha district. As a result, four cars at the rear of the train derailed.
There were 326 people on board. According to Dmitry Panyichev, Deputy Governor of Murmansk Region and Minister of Health, 31 people were injured, and two people died.
"Fourteen people were hospitalized, four of them in critical condition. The death toll has risen to two. Unfortunately, another passenger died in the hospital," Russian Railways (RZD) reported.
Preliminary information indicates that the cause of the accident was a technical malfunction in the freight train, TASS reported, citing operational services. The train driver and his assistant have been detained, and a criminal case has been opened.
Russian Railways promised to provide compensation to the injured and the families of the deceased.
