A population and agricultural census will be conducted
Uzbekistan
For the first time in 37 years, Uzbekistan will conduct a nationwide census of both population and agriculture. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved the plan to carry it out from January 15 to February 28, 2026.
The census will cover all 38 million citizens and the agricultural sector. During the first 17 days, data will be collected online, followed by door-to-door surveys with the participation of local community representatives.
The new format will save 1.3 trillion soums, simplify and increase transparency of the process, and reduce the number of questions from 328 to 71. A unified database will be created, covering population structure, migration, family status, employment, and income sources in line with international standards.
The agricultural census will provide accurate data on land use, livestock, and poultry, as well as assess the effectiveness of the 25.6 trillion soums allocated annually to the sector.
Community representatives will undergo special training and receive financial incentives. A broad information campaign through media and social networks will also be launched.
This census is expected to become a key tool for planning the country’s development, delivering targeted social support, and implementing state programs more effectively.
