The Department of the Federal Penitentiary Service for the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District announced the death of Alexey Navalny in the colony.
According to information published on the website of the Federal Penitentiary Service, on 16 February 2024, convict Navalny A.A. felt ill after a walk in penal colony No. 3, almost instantly losing consciousness. The medical staff of the institution immediately came to his aid, and an ambulance was called.
In the course of emergency resuscitation measures, which proved unsuccessful, the death of the convict was stated by emergency doctors. The causes of death are being investigated.
Navalny, who had been suspended twice, was put on the wanted list for violating the conditions of serving his sentence in the Yves Rocher case. In February 2021, his suspended sentence was changed to a real one. In March 2022, he was also found guilty of insulting the court and fraudulent campaign fundraising, and in August 2023 he was found guilty of creating an extremist organisation.
