Memory carved in stone
Uzbekistan
A National Heroes Alley was opened in Victory Park - a memorial to the Uzbekistanis who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland during the years of independence. The President met with the families of the deceased and congratulated the veterans on the 80th anniversary of the Victory.
On May 8, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Alley of National Heroes, opened in Victory Park. The memorial is dedicated to military personnel and law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty since Uzbekistan gained independence.
The alley is made in the shape of a crescent moon and 12 stars, as on the country's flag. On slabs about two meters high, the names of 196 heroes are written in golden letters. Next to them are interactive monitors with photos and videos from each of their lives: from childhood to service.
In the center of the memorial is a sculpture of parents seeing off their son to the army, and on the sides are images of representatives of various law enforcement agencies of the country. The composition is complemented by an amphitheater and flowing water - a symbol of purity and eternal memory.
The President met with the families of the deceased and noted:
This place is a symbol of national identity, a tribute to those who sacrificed themselves for the peace of our land.
He also visited the veterans of the Second World War and the labor front, congratulated them on the 80th anniversary of the Victory, and expressed gratitude for their heroism.
Within the framework of the presidential decree of February 19, war veterans receive monetary payments and state support:
War invalids and veterans - $10,000
Equivalent to them - 25 million soums
For Home Front Workers - 3 million soums
Medical, social, and sanatorium services, including patronage and support from relevant agencies, have also been organized.
The veterans thanked for the attention and recited a prayer.
