Anorbank owner kidnapped in Paris

Financier from Uzbekistan, owner of 99.38% of Anorbank shares, Kahramonjon Olimov, was kidnapped in Paris on June 23. According to Le Monde, the businessman was forcibly taken out of the French capital and held for nearly two days in the basement of a villa near Nice.

The kidnappers beat up the entrepreneur and threatened to execute him. Only after partial payment of the ransom was the pledgee released. Olimov was taken to the Hôtel-Dieu hospital in Paris with multiple contusions and signs of post-traumatic stress.

According to French media, the businessman was in France to negotiate with potential partners and finalize a real estate purchase agreement. A criminal case has been initiated under the article "illegal deprivation of liberty by a group of persons." One suspect has been detained.

Kahramonjon Olimov is the founder of digital Anorbank (founded in 2020, assets exceed $1 billion), as well as a co-participant in the project to build a gas turbine power plant in Surkhandarya region with French EDF. He owns shares in several companies, including Milliy Tölov Tizimlari (Hamyon), Clever Mikromoliya Tashkiloti, Anor Assets, and Dynamic Energy.

The businessman's secretary told Le Monde that "it was unpleasant, but it's all over."
