The measures were announced on September 10 during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy&rsquo;s visit to Canada and his meeting with Prime Minister Mark Carney. Canada will provide an additional C$10 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, bringing its total contribution to C$100 million. Export Development Canada will provide C$200 million in concessional trade financing for priority projects, including hydropower, damaged infrastructure rehabilitation and energy-system modernization. Ottawa also said it was prepared to facilitate long-term agreements for Canadian LNG supplies to Ukraine. The two countries agreed to deepen cooperation in nuclear energy, including uranium supplies and conversion services, and to expand the involvement of Canada&rsquo;s private sector in rebuilding Ukraine&rsquo;s energy infrastructure. Canada has announced a new support package for Ukraine, including C$757 million in loan guarantees through the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for emergency natural gas purchases and strategic reserves ahead of the heating season. The United States has expanded military support for Saudi Arabia as Houthi forces advance along Yemen’s western coast. More than 100 US military advisers are in the kingdom providing intelligence and targeting assistance, while the Houthis have moved closer to the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

The meeting came after the Houthis captured the strategic Red Sea port city of Al-Mokha. It effectively marks the end of the relative calm that Yemen has experienced for over four years since the UN-brokered truce,&rdquo; Grundberg said. He called on the international community to address the escalation and prevent the conflict from expanding further. Yemen&rsquo;s UN Ambassador Abdullah Al-Saadi urged the Council to condemn the Houthi military escalation and take measures to prohibit the supply of weapons, components, technology and military expertise to the group. Saudi Ambassador to the UN Abdulaziz Alwasil said Riyadh remained committed to peace in Yemen but would take necessary measures to deter Houthi attacks. The capture of Al-Mokha, located about 80 kilometers from Bab el-Mandeb, marked the Houthis&rsquo; biggest territorial gain since the 2022 truce.
