Artificial intelligence will leave 12 million Americans unemployed
By 2030, about 12 million Americans in declining occupations may be forced to change jobs. This is stated in a new study by the McKinsey Global Institute.

The scientists analyzed how other factors, such as the rise of AI, an aging population and e-commerce, could affect US employment in the coming years.

By 2030, 11.8 million employees will have to change jobs not because they want to, but because they have to, according to McKinsey researchers. It is expected that about 9 million of them will be forced to find work in new areas.

Michael Chui, a fellow at the McKinsey Global Institute and co-author of a study studying the impact of new technologies on business, told Insider that 75 percent of job losses are in four categories: office work, customer service and sales, food service and manufacturing.

The study found that these changes are expected to affect the lowest paid workers the most. By 2030, their need for a change of profession will increase 14 times.

However, studies have shown an increase in demand for high-paying jobs in sectors such as healthcare, technology and transportation.

Also, with the rise of artificial intelligence technologies such as chatgpt, 30 percent of US work hours could be automated by 2030.

"It changes the number of work hours people have to do," Chui said.

Demand for secretaries, retailers, administrative assistants and cashiers could drop to more than 600,000 jobs by 2030, he said.
