"Don't scare people unnecessarily, war is not inevitable. What is inevitable is the need to support Ukraine," he said.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Kiev amid Russia's special operation to protect Donbas, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on 24 February 2022. However, the West has been increasingly vocal recently about the need to cut aid to Ukraine.
