Trudeau also emphasized that he would step down from his position as prime minister in the coming months, but would remain in office until a new leader is chosen.

The internal conflicts within the Liberal Party are causing concern not only among lawmakers but also among Canadian business groups and provincial leaders. Trudeau's resignation comes after his party's unsatisfactory performance in previous elections and internal discontent.

Over the past year, many Liberal lawmakers, especially Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland, who resigned and accused Trudeau of "political gimmicks," called for the prime minister's resignation. This decision was made in response to internal party struggles and poor pre-election poll results.

Recent polls show that Canadians have shifted their support toward the Conservatives. According to a poll conducted by Ipsos in December 2022, the Conservatives received 45% support, while the Liberals and New Democrats both had 20%. If these results hold on election day, the Conservatives are expected to win a decisive victory.

Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre called for action against the Liberal Party's internal struggles and demanded an immediate election.
