CCA Tashkent Center for Contemporary Art Opens in Tashkent

The CCA Tashkent Center for Contemporary Art has opened in Tashkent, bringing together exhibition halls, a library, educational and research spaces, a concept store and meeting areas. Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration, described it as the first institution of its kind in Central Asia.
The center is housed in a former diesel power station built in 1912. The architectural transformation of the building was carried out by Studio KO.
CCA Tashkent will host exhibitions, lectures, discussions, film screenings, concerts and performances. The space will also be used for research and meetings. The center will work with artists, curators and international organizations.
According to Saida Mirziyoyeva, the opening of another contemporary venue of this level is important for the development of Uzbekistan’s modern cultural infrastructure. She emphasized that CCA Tashkent will work with artists, curators and international organizations, helping Uzbek creators reach new audiences and become more visible beyond the country.
“It is especially important that Uzbekistan now has another contemporary venue of this level. The project was implemented at the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev with the participation of the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation.
The center’s comprehensive format combines exhibition, educational and research functions. Alongside exhibition projects, the venue will host public programmes ranging from lectures and discussions to film screenings, concerts and performances.
The opening of CCA Tashkent expands opportunities for interaction among artists, curators, researchers and international organizations.
