CIS Games Open in Azerbaijan: Uzbekistan Wins First Medals

The 3rd CIS Games officially opened in Ganja, Azerbaijan, and will run until October 8. Uzbekistan’s delegation is represented by 254 athletes competing in 23 sports.
On the very first day, Uzbek swimmers secured the country’s first medals. Mukhammadismoyil Rakhmonov claimed bronze in the 50m breaststroke with a time of 29.92 seconds. Another bronze came from Javlon Ganiev, who finished third in the 200m butterfly (2:13.63).
Today, Uzbekistan’s athletes are also competing in table tennis, football, swimming, sambo, taekwondo WT, and boxing.
