Uzbekistan’s Center for Islamic Civilization Wins Gold at Terres Travel Festival

Uzbekistan’s Center for Islamic Civilization has won a gold award at the 10th anniversary Terres Travel Festival – Films & Creativity 2026 in Spain. The film “Echo of Enlightenment,” featuring Oscar-winning actor Ben Kingsley, received the award in the “Tourism Service” category.
Audiovisual projects from more than 40 countries took part in the festival. “Echo of Enlightenment” presents Uzbekistan as a space of historical memory, science, culture and enlightenment, highlighting the contribution of Islamic civilization to the development of human thought.
The Terres Gold adds to the film’s international achievements. In 2026, the project became a finalist at the New York Festivals and the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards, and was also recognized at SILKFEST 26 in Belgrade.
Ben Kingsley’s participation is one of the film’s distinctive features. The actor won an Oscar for portraying Mahatma Gandhi and is known internationally for playing Abu Ali ibn Sina, Avicenna, in the historical drama “The Physician.” In “Echo of Enlightenment,” he explores the intellectual tradition of the East and its contribution to science, education and culture.
The Center for Islamic Civilization is a flagship project initiated by Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. In 2026, the Center was officially included in Guinness World Records as the “Largest Museum of Islamic Civilization,” while TURKSOY recognized it as the “Best Museum of the Turkic World.” In 2025, it received the Avicenna International Prize and the “Islamic Heritage Site of the Year” award at the World Halal Tourism Summit in Singapore.
The Terres Travel Festival is held in Tortosa, Catalonia, and focuses on films about travel, tourism, culture and destinations. It is an official member of CIFFT, with winning works included in the CIFFT Ranking — World’s Best Tourism Films.
The film’s executive team includes general producer Firdavs Abdukhalikov, screenwriter and director Shokhrukh Rasulov, producer Gayrat Muminov and executive producer Sayyora Khudayberdieva.
