Heat waves, floods, wildfires, melting glaciers, rising sea levels..... These factors are causing an increase in deaths and diseases in many parts of the globe.

Climate change will cause 250,000 additional deaths per year
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has published its latest analysis on this issue. According to it, over the next 20 years, the proportion of deaths due to scorching temperatures among people over 65 has increased to 70 per cent.

Moreover, lack of clean drinking water has become one of the leading causes of preventable deaths among children under the age of 5.

In addition, 7 million people die each year from diseases caused by air pollution.

WHO Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus said that if the situation is not corrected, climate change-related factors could claim additional 250,000 lives annually over the next decade.
