Construction of the "China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan" Main Railway Line Begins

Today, December 27, 2024, a grand ceremony was held in the city of Jalal-Abad, Kyrgyz Republic, marking the start of construction for the main railway line "China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan," which will connect the countries with a unified rail network.

The railway construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2030. Once operational, it will ensure uninterrupted transport links between China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan at full capacity.

This historic event marks a significant milestone in implementing one of the largest infrastructure projects aimed at strengthening economic integration in the region and improving transportation connectivity between the three nations.

The total length of the "China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan" railway project is 532.53 km. The plan includes the construction of 20 railway stations (including two prospective ones), 2 border stations, 1 transshipment station, 4 intermediate stations, and 13 passing loops.

The project involves constructing 42 bridges with a total length of 16.06 km and 27 tunnels with a combined length of 103.63 km. The total length of bridges and tunnels is 119.69 km, accounting for 39.3% of the railway's total length.

The ceremony was attended by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, representatives of Uzbekistan and the People's Republic of China, international organizations, and railway administrations. The presidents of the three countries expressed their satisfaction with the project's launch and emphasized its importance in further strengthening economic and political ties.
