Control over information transferred to Uzkomnazorat: AIMK abolished

On July 14, 2025, the President of Uzbekistan signed a decree (No. PF-111) on reforming the public administration system. Within the framework of the document, the Agency for Information and Mass Communications under the Presidential Administration (AIMC) was dissolved, and its functions were redistributed among other structures.

Key changes to the decree:

The functions of control and monitoring in the information sphere have been transferred to the Information and Telecommunications Supervision Inspectorate (Uzkomnazorat).

The Center for Mass Communications is now directly subordinate to the Presidential Administration.

The Culture and Arts Development Fund under the Cabinet of Ministers will also be transferred to the Administration.

A Center for Content Preparation for Mass Media is being established on the basis of the Administration's press service.

The National Center for Drug Control was reorganized into the Agency for Drug and Firearms Control.

The Agency for the Development of Public Service was transformed into the Agency for Management Effectiveness.

The Cabinet of Ministers was instructed to submit proposals on the regulatory framework by September 1, 2025, aimed at eliminating bureaucratic barriers, reducing duplicating functions, increasing transparency, and expanding the powers of khokimiyats to increase employment and incomes of the population.
