Convicted migrants will face a lifetime ban on entering Russia, regardless of the severity of their crimes. This is reported by the news agency Izvestia.
Currently, bans have temporary restrictions depending on the category of crimes, but a new bill proposes to impose a strict ban on entry for all categories of convicted migrants.
"Former offenders from other countries are potential conduits of terrorist threats. [...] We don't need those who will continue their criminal activities here, threatening our citizens," explained the leader of the LDPR faction, Leonid Slutsky.
Other proposals in the migration sphere include reducing the temporary stay of migrants in the country to 90 days per year, mandatory fingerprinting and photography upon entry, as well as limiting the duration of labour contracts with migrants to two years.
