COP-29: UAE's Masdar to Build 1000 MW Wind Power Plant in Uzbekistan
Economy
At the COP-29 conference in Baku, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan's Ministry of Energy signed an agreement with UAE's Masdar to build a 1000 MW wind power plant in the Uchquduq district of Navoi region.
The project will create between 600 and 800 new jobs during construction. Once operational, the wind farm will produce 3.5 billion kWh of electricity annually, helping save 1 billion cubic meters of natural gas.
This project holds economic and environmental significance for Uzbekistan, as it will reduce carbon emissions by 1.4 million tons each year.
The wind power plant is part of an ongoing partnership with Masdar, aimed at enhancing Uzbekistan's energy security, creating jobs, and boosting economic growth.
Aligned with the UAE’s initiative to triple renewable energy capacity, this project contributes to global climate change efforts and supports the goals of the Paris Agreement.
