Tashkent is turning into the epicenter of esports: the largest international PUBG MOBILE tournament with a prize fund of half a million dollars is starting in the capital. Uzbekistan is not just hosting the top event, but is consolidating its status as a leader in digital sports in Central Asia.
Uzbekistan is strengthening its position as a leader in cybersport in Central Asia - this is confirmed not only by the scale of the ongoing events but also by the level of international partnership.
The National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan is implementing an ambitious strategy to develop the sports sector, where esports is gaining increasing importance. This discipline is already being included in the programs of major world competitions, and Uzbekistan intends to be among the leaders.
A key element of promotion was partnership with China's giant Tencent - the developer of the world-famous PUBG MOBILE game. Together with the NOC, the company will invest $4 million in infrastructure development, tournaments, and the popularization of esports in the country.
From April 9th to 13th, an international PUBG MOBILE tournament is taking place at the "Renaissance Hall" of the "ZOR TV" channel in Tashkent. More than 1,000 cyber athletes from 15 countries are participating in it, and the total prize fund is a substantial $500,000. In addition to cash prizes, the winners will also receive car prizes from sponsors.
This event is already being called the largest in the history of Uzbekistan and the entire region. Tencent representatives emphasize: Tashkent is becoming a new esports hub in Central Asia.
On the eve of the tournament, the NOC leadership - Vice President Otabek Umarov and General Secretary Oybek Kasimov held a meeting with the Uzbekistan Esports Association. Reports on the preparations were heard, and specific instructions were given on organizing the event.
Thus, Uzbekistan not only hosts a spectacular tournament but also confidently invests in the future of digital sports, taking the country to leading positions in the international cyber arena.
