Donald Trump took revenge on Joe Biden
World
Trump announced that he is revoking Biden’s access to classified information and stopping his daily intelligence briefings. This decision is seen as retaliation for Biden’s actions in 2021.
He stated, “There is no need for Joe Biden to have access to classified information. Therefore, we are immediately revoking his clearance and stopping his intelligence briefings.”
Trump believes that Biden himself set this precedent when he restricted Trump’s access to intelligence briefings after leaving office.
Former US presidents usually retain access to intelligence briefings. However, Biden denied this privilege to Trump, citing his attempts to overturn the 2020 election results and his role in the January 6 events.
In a 2021 interview with CBS News, Biden said:
“There is no need for him to have intelligence briefings. What’s the point? The only thing he could do is slip up and say something.”
In 2020, more than 50 former intelligence officials signed a letter calling the Hunter Biden laptop story “Russian disinformation.” Trump has now revoked their security clearances. He also removed security details from former officials who criticized him, including former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Dr. Anthony Fauci.
Trump fired the head of the National Archives, Colleen Shogan, after the agency reported his mishandling of classified documents to the Justice Department.
In 2022, the FBI discovered classified documents at Trump’s Florida home, leading to criminal charges against him. However, the court later dismissed the case, ruling that the special prosecutor was appointed unlawfully. After Trump’s reelection in 2024, the Justice Department decided not to appeal the ruling.
Commenting on his decision regarding Biden, Trump stated:
“The Hur Report revealed that Biden suffers from memory problems and, even in his prime, could not be trusted with sensitive information.”
