Erdogan and Putin discussed the situation in the Middle East
A telephone conversation was held between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Russian leader Vladimir Putin. It discussed the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. This was reported by the press service of the Kremlin.

The sides expressed deep concern over the growing number of civilian casualties and the catastrophic deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, stressing that strikes on residential buildings, religious and social facilities are unacceptable.

Russia's efforts through the UN Security Council, as well as Turkey's political and diplomatic steps to stop the bloodshed and ensure the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid to those in need were reviewed.

"It was stressed that the positions of Russia and Turkey practically coincide and are focused on the implementation of the well-known two-state formula providing for the creation of an independent Palestine coexisting with Israel in peace and security," the statement said.
