The Turkish President emphasised the need for an immediate ceasefire in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict zone.
Turkey strongly condemns the attacks of the Israeli army on civilians in the Gaza Strip. This was stated by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
"Turkey has no problem with the State of Israel, but we will never accept the atrocities committed by Israel and its actions in the style of an 'organisation' rather than a state," said the Turkish leader.
He said, "When the forces on which Israel relies today are gone, the first place where the Israeli people will seek safety and mercy will be Turkey, just as it was 500 years ago."
The Turkish head of state also called on the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation to do more to protect Palestinian rights amid the events. "We expect at least this time the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, whose main purpose is to support the Palestinian cause and protect the sanctity of Jerusalem, to carry out its mission with dignity," he said.
Erdogan also expressed Turkey's readiness to be a guarantor of Palestine's security.
"We are ready to be one of the guarantors of the Palestinian side with a humanitarian, political, and military presence. We propose organizing an international Palestine-Israel peace conference in which all influential actors in the region take part," the Turkish leader said.
He also added that he cancelled a trip to Israel, saying he did not consider Hamas a terrorist organisation.
