Ex-NATO chief predicts that talks between Russia and Kiev are possible in 2024

Russia and Ukraine, exhausted from waging war, may start peace talks by the end of this year, former NATO commander-in-chief for Europe James Stavridis has predicted. He said the talks could begin after the US elections.
Stavridis said that both countries are experiencing difficulties and receiving assistance from third parties, but are likely to postpone the talks.
In his opinion, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine could end up similar to the Korean War, where Russia would control a certain part of Ukraine, including Crimea and a land bridge to Russia. At the same time, he suggested that Ukraine could join NATO and believes the details of this deal will become clearer as the current year progresses.
Earlier in December 2023, James Stavridis called for increased aid to Ukraine and supported its cause, calling it "fair," according to online publication The Hill.
