Fico Under Investigation: Slovak Police Open Probe
Slovak police have opened a criminal investigation against Prime Minister Robert Fico on charges of state treason and other offenses, SaS party leader Branislav Gröling reported.

A month ago, Gröling filed the complaint, joined by over 13,000 citizens — the largest such initiative in Slovak history. The case was transferred from the General Prosecutor’s Office to the regional prosecutor, and then to the police.

The investigation stems from Fico’s move to halt emergency electricity supplies to Ukraine. SaS also suspects him of abuse of power, dereliction of duty, inhumanity, and even involvement in terrorist acts. Fico has not yet commented.

Gröling also called for Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj-Eštok’s resignation, accusing him of abusing police powers and being involved in financial crimes worth tens of millions of euros. Polls show 70% of the population distrust him.

Fico’s actions relate to terminating the emergency electricity supply agreement with Ukrenergo, supported by the government in early March, following the suspension of Russian oil transit via Ukraine and Hungary halting diesel deliveries.
