Forum of Regions of Uzbekistan and Italy to be established in Samarkand

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has held bilateral talks with President of Italy Sergio Mattarella at the Kuksaroy residence.
The Forum of Regions of Uzbekistan and Italy will be established and its first meeting may be held in Samarkand next year. This was said at the meeting between President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Italy Sergio Mattarella at Kuksaroy residence.
According to the press service of the President of Uzbekistan, the sides welcomed the opening of the Confindustria Uzbekistan Industry Association in Tashkent city, which serves to deepen industrial cooperation.
Within the framework of the Intergovernmental Group it was decided to prepare proposals on new directions and localisation projects. Italy expressed readiness to support Uzbekistan's early accession to the World Trade Organisation and the adoption of an agreement on an expanded partnership with the European Union.
The importance of developing direct ties between the regions of the two countries was noted. In this regard, it was proposed to establish the Forum of Regions of Uzbekistan and Italy and hold its first meeting in Samarkand next year.
In addition, the prospects for developing cultural and humanitarian co-operation were discussed in detail.
