General Plan for Tashkent until 2045
Uzbekistan
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the project of the general plan for Tashkent.
Currently, the city covers 43,822 hectares, with a population exceeding 3 million people. These figures are expected to grow in the future, which is why the general development plan for Tashkent until 2045 has been developed.
According to this plan, the city will be divided into three zones. The conservation zone aims to preserve cultural heritage sites, historical landmarks, buildings, and green areas. The reconstruction zone will allow for new construction based on master plans. The renovation zone is intended for the demolition of old and dilapidated buildings, followed by the construction of new facilities.
Environmental and transportation issues are becoming increasingly pressing. Over the past ten years, the average air temperature in Tashkent has risen by 1 degree. On certain days, air pollution levels exceed permissible standards. The number of vehicles is growing, exacerbating traffic congestion.
The President emphasized the importance of transforming Tashkent into a major metropolis that can provide comfortable living and working conditions for at least 7.5 million people. He issued directives for the development of the Kibray, Zangiata, Yukorichirchik, Urtachirchik, and Tashkent districts, creating a unified agglomeration with Tashkent.
