George Meloni began his visit to Uzbekistan

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni arrived in Uzbekistan on May 28 with an official visit at the invitation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The main negotiations will take place on May 29, however, the visit program has already begun with symbolic cultural events in Samarkand.
At the Samarkand International Airport, the Prime Minister of the Italian Republic, George Meloni, was met by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. In honor of the high-ranking guest's visit, the state flags of both countries were raised, and an honor guard was lined up.
Immediately upon arrival, George Meloni, along with the President, visited the Registan architectural ensemble, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The guest was presented with historical facts about the construction of the ensemble, including the Mirzo Ulugbek, Sherdor, and Tillakori madrasahs, as well as the features of architecture and decorative design.
Then the leaders inspected the "Eternal City" historical and ethnographic park in the Silk Road Samarkand tourist complex. The Prime Minister was presented with an exposition showcasing the cultural richness, craft traditions, and applied arts of the Uzbek people. The cultural program included performances by choreographic groups.
