In recent days, heavy rainfall in some areas of Saudi Arabia has led to flooding. In particular, the country's economic hub, the city of Jeddah, experienced street flooding, and the roads connecting the cities were damaged by adverse weather conditions.

Heavy rainfall floods Mecca and Medina
According to Saudi Gazette, pilgrims in Mecca and Medina were caught in heavy rain. Videos released by Khaleej Times show pilgrims in Mecca finding themselves in difficult conditions due to the rain. Meteorologists have also warned that heavy rainfall may continue in some parts of the country until Wednesday.

Heavy rain in winter is not common in Saudi Arabia. In April 2024, the country experienced heavy rainfall, which also affected Oman and the UAE.

The increase in rainfall and flooding in Saudi Arabia highlights the need for improvements in the country's infrastructure and weather management systems. Given the growing number of Muslims coming to Mecca for pilgrimage, there is an increasing need to introduce advanced technologies and systems to combat natural disasters in these cities.
