Historic Summit Concludes in Samarkand

On April 3–4, 2025, the city of Samarkand once again became the center of a major international event. Under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the first-ever “Central Asia – European Union” summit was held.
This summit marked a significant step toward strengthening regional and international cooperation, as well as advancing to a new stage in political, economic, and social spheres.
The summit was attended by President of the European Council António Costa, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The high-level guests’ visit to Samarkand reflects the deepening of strategic ties between the region and Europe.
At the conclusion of the event, the participants departed for their respective countries. On April 4, the esteemed guests were officially seen off at Samarkand International Airport by Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov and other officials.
This summit not only marked a new phase of regional integration but also served as a clear demonstration of Uzbekistan’s active and open foreign policy on the global stage.
