Historical memory is a solid foundation for the future of the nation. The invaluable contributions of First President Islam Karimov to the establishment of Uzbekistan as an independent state and to the foundations of the country's statehood are remembered with deep respect and gratitude.

Thanks to the initiative and attention of our head of state, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the memory of the First President was immortalized, and his mausoleum was built in Samarkand. It has become a good tradition to hold memorial events on January 30 – Islam Karimov's birthday.

During the ceremony, verses from the Quran and duas were recited. The First President's work for the benefit of the Motherland and his human qualities were discussed.

Representatives of the chambers of the Oliy Majlis, the Presidential Administration, the government, academics, cultural figures, and members of the public participated in the ceremony, which took place at the Islam Karimov Scientific and Educational Memorial Complex.

The First President's memory was also honored with flower-laying ceremonies at his monuments in the cities of Samarkand and Karshi.
