Human graves buried together with jewelry and ceramics were discovered in the 4000-year-old monument of Jarkutan, located in Surkhandarya region. This was reported by the press service of the Cultural heritage Agency.

It is noted that today excavations are being carried out in the Uzbek-French joint expedition with the participation of archaeologists from the National Research Center of France, Termez State University, and the National University of Uzbekistan.

The Jarkutan monument is the oldest city in Uzbekistan and the cradle of early civilization in Central Asia. To date, the ruler's palace, the early synagogue of Central Asia and more than a thousand tombs have been excavated and investigated.

"During the visit of the head of state to Surkhandarya region, an instruction was given to conduct research on 10 objects of the oasis cultural heritage with the involvement of scientists from leading archaeological institutes and scientific centers of the world," the message reads.

Today, archaeological excavations and research are being carried out in various places of the province on assignment.
