Asaka Motors has reached an agreement with Hyundai to launch car production in Uzbekistan. This information is according to the autostrada.uz website.

Hyundai to be assembled in Uzbekistan
It is reported that at the Asaka Motors plant in Syrdarya, Hyundai Elantra, Tucson, Sonata, Santa Fe, Palisade, and Staria will be assembled.

The production of budget models is not planned yet, as Hyundai Tucson at official dealerships costs 520 million sums, while Sonata starts from 478 million sums.

Large-scale assembly of cars will take place within the framework of a project to study the Uzbek market and assess demand for automobiles. Subsequently, the organization of full-scale production is planned, including body welding and painting, as well as the establishment of an automotive industry cluster in the Syrdarya region.

It is worth reminding that the Asaka Motors plant in Syrdarya was built last year and was intended for localized assembly of Chinese Exeed cars. However, apparently, the process did not start – according to statistical data, only a few cars are produced at the plant per month. Presumably, attracting a partner like Hyundai is intended to fill the idle production capacity.
