On June 4, 2024, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov received the copies of the credentials of the newly appointed ambassador of India to Uzbekistan Smita Pant.

“Pleased to welcome the newly appointed Ambassador of India to Uzbekistan H.E. Smita Pant and receive copies of her credentials. We discussed our joint efforts to enhance cooperation across various sectors, including agriculture, tourism, transport, logistics, and more. Our primary goal is to facilitate trade and investment cooperation. Wish Madam Ambassador success in unlocking the untapped potential of our bilateral relations”, — wrote the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan in his Telegram channel.

The new ambassador succeeds Manish Prabhat, who headed the Indian Embassy in Tashkent from 2020-2024.
