According to the Syrian state press, Israel has attacked two of Syria's most important airports at the same time. The Damascus and Aleppo air harbours are out of operation due to severe damage to the runways.
Syria's two main airports, Damascus and Aleppo, are out of service due to Israeli missile strikes, Syria's state-run Sana news agency reported on the morning of 22 October, citing security sources. One airport citizen was killed and another was injured, it said.
"Significant damage to the runways has led to the suspension of flights at both international airports," the report said.
Sana security sources said the strikes were launched simultaneously from the Mediterranean coast in the west of the country and the Golan Heights. Syria's transport ministry said flights were diverted to Latakia airport.
Following the Hamas attack on Israel on 7 October, the Israeli Air Force launched a second simultaneous strike on the airports of the Syrian capital and the northern city of Aleppo. According to Damascus, the first strikes were carried out on 12 October.
