Former world champion in the super middleweight division, Isroil Madrimov, will not participate in the fight scheduled for December 21.
The fight was supposed to take place in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, against Ukrainian boxer Sergey Bogachuk. However, the bout has been canceled due to Isroil’s acute bronchitis, which has left him unwell. This information was confirmed by the fight organizer, head of the Saudi Entertainment Authority Turki Al al-Shaikh.
"Tonight, doctors confirmed that Isroil Madrimov is suffering from acute bronchitis. Therefore, his fight against Sergey Bogachuk, scheduled for December 21, will not take place. His place will be filled by British boxer Ismail Salas. Now, Madrimov will prepare for his bout against interim WBC champion Virgil Ortiz, scheduled for February 22," said Al al-Shaikh.
"Sergey had no hesitation in agreeing to the fight with Madrimov. I am very sorry that Isroil fell ill. Bogachuk also calmly accepted the change of opponent to Ismail Salas. Sergey will continue to prove that he is one of the strongest fighters in this division. He always feels the support from Turki Al al-Shaikh and Riyadh Season," said Sergey Bogachuk’s promoter Tom Loeffler.
