On April 7, 2025, thousands of Israelis held an anti-government protest in Tel Aviv. They demanded a deal with Hamas to release hostages and end the war in the Gaza Strip.

The protest coincided with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to the United States. Recently freed hostages, along with their families and supporters, appealed to U.S. President Donald Trump to help stop the war.

Protesters also voiced opposition to the dismissal of Ronen Bar, head of Israel’s internal security service, Shin Bet. The Israeli Supreme Court has temporarily blocked the dismissal, with a hearing scheduled for April 8.

As a reminder, on October 7, 2023, Hamas launched a major attack on Israel, killing hundreds and taking around 250 hostages. In response, Israel declared war on Hamas. During the ongoing military operations in Gaza, over 50,000 Palestinians have reportedly been killed.
