IUCN Director General Dr Gretel Aguilar arrives in Uzbekistan

Director General of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Dr Gretel Aguilar has arrived in Uzbekistan to participate in the UN conference #CMSCOP14, which will be held in Samarkand on 12-17 February. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Ecology.

The distinguished guest was met at Tashkent International Airport by Deputy Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change Jusipbek Kazbekov.

For reference: Dr Gretel Aguilar has been Head of IUCN since October 2023. She has 30 years of experience in nature conservation and sustainable development, application of environmental legislation in co-operation with governments and civil society.

As a reminder, within the framework of CMS COP14 it is planned to open the first representative office of the International Union for Conservation of Nature in Central Asia, which will be located in Tashkent.
