Karshi City Will Expand

The center of the Kashkadarya region, Karshi City, will undergo significant expansion over the next 18 years. According to Karshi’s master plan, which came into effect on February 25, 2025, the city will expand by 7,767 hectares toward the Koson, Karshi, and Kokdala districts, nearly doubling its area.
Currently, Karshi covers 8,308.9 hectares, but by 2030, its area is expected to reach 11,026.8 hectares, and by 2042, it will grow to 16,073.6 hectares. At the same time, the city's population is projected to increase significantly from 300,000 to 470,000 by 2042.
Modern residential complexes, social infrastructure facilities, and the transportation system will be developed in Karshi. The housing stock will expand from 3.99 million square meters to 7.2 million square meters by 2030 and to 10.81 million square meters by 2042. The average living space per person will increase from 14.1 square meters to 18 square meters by 2030 and to 23 square meters by 2042.
The city's architectural landscape will also change: the number of 2-5 story buildings will decrease, giving way to modern residential buildings with 7, 12, 14, 16, and even 20 stories.
According to Karshi’s master plan, the capacity of preschool institutions will increase from 11,800 seats to 22,000 by 2030 and to 29,140 by 2042. The capacity of general education schools will also rise from 38,000 to 74,260 seats.
The number of healthcare facilities, retail centers, cultural, and recreational venues will also increase. The plan includes the construction of new hospitals, clinics, hotels, cinemas, cultural centers, and shopping complexes.
The length of Karshi’s main roads will expand from 88 km to 155.35 km by 2030 and to 291.33 km by 2042. The number of passengers transported, currently 96 million annually, is expected to grow to 160 million by 2030 and 235 million by 2042.
Additionally, modernized water supply, gas, electricity, heating, and sewage systems will be implemented, enhancing living conditions for the city’s residents.
